Global Recycling Day: Recycling in DeBary

March 18th marks Global Recycling Day, a day dedicated to fostering a global awareness of the importance of recycling for a healthier planet! In DeBary, our commitment to recycling is not just a symbolic gesture but a tangible effort to create a cleaner and more sustainable community for ourselves, the diverse creatures that share our world, and the generations to come.

Recycling is a pivotal tool in our efforts to conserve natural resources, combat climate change, save energy, and reduce waste and pollution. Beyond environmental advantages, recycling also plays a significant role in fortifying the economy. According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), recycling contributed to 681,000 jobs, $37.8 billion in wages, and $5.5 billion in tax revenues in 2020.

In DeBary, WastePro is the dedicated entity overseeing waste and recycling management. It's essential to note that neither the City nor WastePro supplies trash bins. However, WastePro provides households with a recyclable bin.

Residents play a crucial role in DeBary's recycling efforts. To participate, place all recyclable items in the provided bins for collection. It's important to ensure that items in the bin are empty, clean, and unbagged to guarantee proper processing. The commitment to recycling begins at home, and every resident's participation contributes to the success of our sustainability initiatives.

To streamline the recycling process, residents are encouraged to have their recycling bins at the curbside by 5:30 AM on their designated collection day. This ensures a smooth and efficient operation, allowing WastePro to collect and process recyclables effectively.
